About Me

Veronica is a domestic adult adoptee. She graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in sociology and later went on to earn a master's degree in mental health counseling from Webster University. Veronica has over ten years experience working in the mental health community and has encountered numerous adoptees in prisons, psychiatric facilities, and substance abuse facilities. There is an overrepresentation of adoptees in these locations. She soon learned that mental health resources were limited for adoptees and there was a severe lack of knowledge among mental health professionals on adoption related trauma, particularly the way it affects adults. Veronica strives to create resources for the adoption community based on her own personal experiences. Veronica is the co-author of 2019 book Rooted in Adoption: A Collection of Adoptee Reflections. In 2022, she self-published The Rooted in Adoption Journal as a resource to help adoptees throughout their journey. She hopes that she can help educate adoptive parents and others in the counseling profession on adoption-related trauma and be an advocate for adoptees. Veronica believes no one should be denied the right to know who they are.
